toothless beauty...

My SIL sent me this adorable picture of my niece. Her toothless grin is so sweet, that I had to do a large photo on the LO for her book. =)
Paper: Cosmo Cricket, white cardstock, acetate
Ink: Distress ink, Staz-on
Stamps: Glitz "Distressing", Fancy Pants "Pollen Dust", Hero Arts "Antique Engravings"
Cricut: Cindyloo
Creative Inspirations paint: Onyx, Burgundy
Other: lace, white Enamel Accents, silk leaves, stamen, Heidi Swapp Chip Letters, rhinestones, Fancy Pants sticker

I designed the petals of the flowers using two cuts from Cindyloo welded together on my gypsy. I then stamped, inked, and scrunched them. I stacked 12 petals together for each flower to give it layers and depth. I used silk leaves behind the flowers to help set the flowers apart from the background since they are all varying shades of pinks and purples. (my niece is very into the girly colors right now!) a bunch of fake stamen were also glued into the center of each for a finishing touch
This flower, I made the same as the others, but folded it in half before gluing it on. This just adds a little variety and visual interest.
I stamped each of these adorable butterflies by Hero Arts twice onto acetate. I then hand cut them out... It takes some time to do this, but the effect is worth it, I think. I layered the matching butterflies on top of each other using glue only on the body. I then gently folded the top layer of wings up. This not only gives dimension, but motion. They look ready to fly off the page. =)
I added a few rhinestones on each body for a little color and sparkle.
I had fun with the lace... It was a cream color, but that was WAY too stark for this page. CI paints to the rescue! I was feeling slightly lazy, and didn't want to brush on the paint the way I usually do... So I decide to try out a different way.... I got the ribbon wet, then I stuck it in a plastic bag along with paint and water. I then smooshed it around... It didn't give me the even coverage I was hoping for, but I thought the random light and dark splotches worked well with the background paper, so I was happy. =)
The chipboard letters by Heidi Swapp came colored a metallic copperish color that disappeared into the background paper, so I covered them with Onyx CI paint. While trying to place them on the page, one of the letters got scratched. I could have done a quick touch up with the paint, but I really liked the grungy look, so I took an emery board to the letters.... I love happy accidents!
I also love stamping on photos.... Just be sure to use an ink made for glossy surfaces like Staz-on, or you could end up ruining your photo.

Ok, that's all for now... I'll be back soon!
