kid guest artist...

Hello my fabulous friends!

The other week I had some very special visitors to my craft room.. My niece and nephew!

I haven't seen them in several years, so we had fun catching up!

My niece (14) wanted me to play with her (very long) hair, and we had tons of fun trying to follow the "super easy hair style" tutorials on YouTube...

Can we just define "super easy"?!?!?

I've been braiding and styling hair since I was young, and I was having a tough time trying to follow the videos...

But we got a good laugh out of it! I love the sweet young woman she is!!

My nephew (11), on the other hand, wanted to help me work.. He wanted to make his own card for my blog, and I told him to go for it!

He picked the stamps...
I showed him how to ink up and stamp an image, and he did all his stamping.
I showed him how to die cut, and he did all his own die cutting and embossing.
And after a super brief tutorial on Copics, he did his own coloring.

Didn't he do an AMAZING job?!?!

Stamps/dies: Motion Crafts Bird and Dragonfly
Embossing folder: Woodland Winter by Papercraft Essentials (free gift w/ magazine a few years ago)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Coloring: Copics
(not sure what colors he used.. I gave him my Hex Chart and let him choose his own colors)

It was so fun watching him work! He really thought about what colors would look good together, testing them out, trying different strokes before coloring anything... and he kept wanting to add in details...

If he doesn't end up in a career that lets him save animals, he could end up with career in art!

Thanks for hanging out with me you two! You guys make my heart happy! 💕

Note: The Motion Crafts stamp set he used was sold on HSN... Looks like it's sold out now... I'm sorry! I let him choose what he wanted without checking for availability... but if you like these critters, you could check out some of the other Motion Craft stamp sets HERE

See you soon!
