End of Summer with CCC

      Hello my fabulous friends,

and welcome to anyone who is new!

There is something magical about the beach... the lapping waves call to my soul, and wash away all my troubles. I've spent countless hours listening memorized by the waves, hunting for the perfect shells, and playing in the sand.

The newest Anita Jeram collection from  Colorado Craft Company is the perfect way to hold on to summer just a little bit longer...

To celebrate this new release, Colorado Craft Company has some amazing give aways... more on that below-

But first, let's take a look at these fun new stamps!

Let's start with Beach Beauty... This sweet bunny mini set works as as stand alone, or can be paired with stamps from other sets like I did here. The sandcastle is from Beach Life (we'll look more at that in a minute)
I've been wanting to practice painting the waves on the beach, and this felt like the perfect excuse! I started with the beach color, and faded it out into where I wanted the water. After that dried, I added the water and faded that over the beach making sure the two colors overlap.... Also, using a white POSCA pen was a quick and easy way to add in some foam!

The coordinating die makes it even more versatile!

Next up is Starfish Wish. This set includes 2  cute cats, and a bunch of fish and starfish. While these cats look adorable juggling either the starfish or the fish, many of the Anita Jeram sets have small accent stamps that the cats could be juggling!

The coordinating dies makes it easy to cut out all the little fish and starfish... I'm thinking an ocean shaker card may be in my future!

Changing pace just a little, check out this fun Beach Background
(sentiment is from Starfish Wish)

After painting all the little images, it felt a bit too busy and intense for my liking... I decided to glaze the entire background with a watered down blue. This got rid of the white of the paper, and muted all the critters in a unifying way so they all look like they are under water!

Alright, how about a group photo? These cuties are from Beach Life. There's a bunch of other cute images in the set, including the sandcastle you saw in my first card. Cute beach scenes are easy with this set!

Of course the coordinating dies makes it even easier to create scenes!

Watercolor tip: I love the interest of adding ground with 2-3 colors. I started with my main color (the yellow sand), while that was wet, I dropped in my purple shadows directly into the yellow.  I then added a light blue just beyond the edge of the yellow, and just barely kiss the edges of the wet yellow. As long as the colors are wet, they will do the mixing, and magic happens!

This can take some practice, but it's worth it!!

Ready for more cats? This one is from Summer Story. This set includes 2 cats and a bunch of shells and crabs!

Again, you can get a coordinating dies to make cutting out the little extras quick and easy!
And yes, you can totally mix and match these cats and sea life!!!

One more bunny set, this one is Fun in the Sun, featuring 2 adult bunnies and 2 little bunnies as well as plenty of extras to create fabulous beach scenes!
(sentiment from Beach Escape)

There are coordinating dies to make your scene making even easier!

Tip: a quick way to add extra interest to your images is to use a white gel pen or a POSCA pen to add doodles like stripes and polkadots!

And last but not least, we have Beach Escape... This third cat set has 2 more cats and a bunch of octopuses (octopi?) and fish.

Can you see the Beach Background stamp in that blue/green stripe?

Cutting out these images is a breeze with the coordinating dies!

Tip: I love creating stripes of color using wide low tack masking tape. If you tear it, you can get some great edges!  After apply the masking tape, I used Distress Ink to blend the color. I stamped the background using the same Distress Ink colors, then finished it off with doodled white bubbles
