Hello my fabulous friends,

You might just want to grab a snack to munch on while reading... These new stamps are mouthwatering!

Today's Colorado Craft Company release is from the talented illustrator Kris Lauren, and is perfect for SO many occasions-after all, most occasions are better when there's cake!
To celebrate this new release, Colorado Craft Company has some amazing give aways... more on that below-- but first, let's take a look at this fun release!
Let's start with this mouth watering beauty! This is the
Sweet Life set, and it allows you to build your own cupcake (or muffin). The wrapper, cake, frosting, sprinkles, and cherry are all separate stamps (there's also a candle). So how you decide to decorate is up to you!
If you aren't interested in masking, you can find the coordinating die set
HERE.
Tip: I don't often talk about no-line coloring in these CCC releases, but for those of you interested, the most common question I get asked is about ink. I use InkOn3 Fadeout, however any light colored ink can work. The lighter the ink, the easier it is to make the lines disappear as you color -- but also the harder it is to see as you color. Experiment to find what works for you.
Tip: Want to make your no-line coloring look more realistic? Don'f forget to add shadows under you sprinkles! Little details like that can really make a difference!
This card features 3 stamp sets-
First: The bag of flour and the chef hat are from
Secret Ingredient. This is a small set with those two being the only image stamps, and the rest being sentiments and alternative labels (so your sack can be sugar or love). You can find the coordinating die
HERE.
Second: The bowl (stamped multiple times), the spoon (in the top bowl), and the whisk are from
Baking Background. This is a large 6x6 background full of smaller versions of the baking images from this collection. The fantastic thing about this background stamp is there IS a coordinating die set
HERE. So, you can use the background stamp as a background, or die cut the images to use individually!
Third: The sentiment is from
Bake Me Happy (more on that in a minute).
Tip: I love that the background stamp has a coordinating die, but if you want to use elements from the stamp without having the halo of white that the die leaves, you can cut your stamp.
Hold on! Don't panic! Hear me out!
You can carefully cut out a bowl, a spoon, a whisk, etc. from your background stamp to use as individual stamps, and simply place them back in when you want to use the full background! It won't hurt the stamp, and it makes the stamp even more versatile! I don't trim the excess material off, that way I can fit it back into the full stamp like a puzzle piece for easy alignment.
This little piggy makes me smile! He, and his giant bowl are from
Bake Me Happy (this set also includes a spoon, a whisk, a spatula and an adorable kitty head). You can find the coordinating die set
HERE.
Tip: Watercolor doesn't have to be tight, perfect, and complicated... the loose, messy, and imperfect is not only quick and fun, it still looks great! Don't be so hard on yourself. Enjoy the process of creating as much as this little piggy is enjoying being in the kitchen!
Ok, I kinda love this little guy! He is from
Piece of Cake. The squirrel and cake stamps are separate so you can mix and match this guy with other sets and have him carrying pretty much anything!
You can find the coordinating die set
HERE
Tip: Adding just a touch of yellow to the top of the cake gives it a nice reflected light from the candle. The darker your scene (like a night scene), the more intense the reflected light will be- so if your scene is dimly lit, you can have a more obvious yellow cast on the frosting (and other surrounding objects), for brighter scenes just add a hint of reflected light.
This huge cake is from
Eat More Cake. I love how the large size fills the card! You can get the coordinating die set
HERE.
Tip: Sometimes colors just don't look as good as you expected once they are on the card... But watercolor can be more forgiving than you might think! I started with purple for that middle tier, but I just didn't like how it looked with the grey of the cat, and I almost started over... but I decided that since it was already "ruined", I might as well experiment with it and learn from it- so I used a damp brush to wet the area, then a paper towel to dab up most of the purple. I then painted it blue... which I also didn't like (yup, I have those days too!). So I wet the blue and dabbed most of that off, and I was left with a fun mix of blue and purple that I loved and the card was saved!
And last, but not least,
Sweetest by Far. This large stack of presents could be used for any celebration! The raccoon and cupcake are separate stamps, so you can build your scene how you want. There is also a party hat and balloon in the set. The coordinating die set can be found
HERE.
Tip: large open areas like the packages can look a bit empty visually, but you can easily dress them up with doodles- stripes, dots, and circles are all quick and easy ways to add some personality!
OK, now if you are having a hard time choosing favorites, no worries!
