deer and hummingbirds...

Hello my fabulous friends!

I've always loved the spring... Things start warming up, flowers start growing, and, if you are lucky, you get to see baby animals! I've been watching a hummingbird nest in my yard for the past few weeks.. It won't be long now before they fly!

And, while I haven't seen any yet, I know the fawns are hiding in the forest...
So much fun!

For today's card, I needed several really quick 'thank you' cards for some friends who brought meals in to my parents... I've been trying to keep up with my 'thank you' cards, but there have been so many people who have selflessly given of their time and talents to help my parents, I sometimes find I'm needing more cards than I have ready! (we are SO blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives!)

I adore this new stamp set from La-La Land Crafts! It includes lots of cute animals!

I stamped it on some Neenah Desert Storm cardstock to give it that woodsy feel.. Then I colored it with Copics and Prismacolor Pencils.

For a little dimension, I die cut around the deer, and added some foam behind it to pop it up.

The straight stitch line from the Essentials by Ellen Stitching Lines die set is the perfect way to finish an edge with a little bit of texture without being distracting. I love it!

I was able to get a set of these made pretty quickly... and the first one was written and sent off before I even got pictures LOL!

I need to get my stash of 'thank you' cards built up again! I've been a little distracted by these sweet things....

This is what hummingbirds look like when they first hatch...

For the most part I keep my hands away, but for comparison, here is my thumb by the nest... These birds are TINY!!
(they are four days old in this picture, and they are already a lot bigger than day 1!)

They grow quick... this is day 10.

It's rare to find a hummingbird nest.. even rarer to find it in a place that is easy to photograph!

And, while watching the hummingbirds, I watched a robin build a nest and lay 3 eggs in a nearby tree... So I've got lots to keep my camera busy!

Speaking of which... I haven't checked on the birds today...

See you soon!
