colorize your world...

Well, the week started out beautifully!  I was running around barefoot outside in the sunshine... However, today we are back to rain. I don't mind... too much. =)

I don't have a finished project to share today, but I wanted to share a little tip that I've been playing around with lately.

For the Creative Chemistry 101 class I took, I bought a jar of the clear Rock Candy crackle paint from Ranger. Now, you can do lots of fabulous things with this clear paint of crackly goodness, but one of the first things I thought of when I opened it is... I wonder if it can be colorized...

So, of course, I had to try. And the answer is, YES!

Now, I know you can buy colors of the crackle paint, but they are colored using an opaque pigment, so it has the same effect as acrylic paint... it covers things up.  Now, if you use a dye ink, like Distress Reinkers, you get the same great crackle, fabulous color, and it is translucent!

Well, I couldn't really stop at reinkers, could I? Not when I'm the main tutorial writer for Creative Inspirations paints...

Guess what... it works fabulously!

You get the great crackle of the paint, and the beautiful color and shimmer of the CI paints!

So go experiment with colorizing your world!

Enjoy!
