ink up the block...

Hello my wonderful friends!

Happy Labor day weekend!
(for those who celebrate it… and for those who don't, enjoy the sale anyway!)

It's time for another Unity hop!
(and sale!)

If you are arriving here from Kary's blog you are right on track... if not, go ahead and start at the beginning by clicking HERE.. You don't want to miss any of the fabulous inspiration (or chances to win!)

I totally fell in love with this beauty the MOMENT I saw it! Thank you Unity for getting me in the winter spirit! I've been trying to get an early start on the MOUNTAIN of Christmas cards I need to make, but I just couldn't seem to get in the mood… One look at this sweet thing, and I was pulling out Christmas papers!

Oh, and the Unity tee…. sigh!!!
sweetness.

If I had a slogan for some of my friends over the years, this would probably be it. Man, I wish I could fix more problems, but isn't it so WONDERFUL when you know you don't have to go through all life's challenges alone! I think simply being there for someone is sometimes the most powerful thing a person can do. (and never underestimate the power of a hug!)

A HUGE thank you to all those who have been there for me!

You can get this, and other fabulous sentiment stamps, this weekend in 2 different grab bags! They are awesome!!!

Now… how about a tutorial?
I thought I would share a fun way to get the awesome blended colors and look of watercolors… using some basic supplies, and no actual watercolor skills. LOL!

Step 1: Scribble Distress Markers onto an acrylic block. (you can also do this by rubbing your Distress ink pads directly onto the block)

Step 2: Spray on some water….this may take a little practice to get the right amount of water. You want enough to blend and move the ink, but too much, and you will lose the details on your image.

Step 3: Ink up your stamp by pressing it onto the colored block

Step 4: Stamp!

Look at that beautiful blending! So simple!

But, let's not leave it there...

Variation 1: instead large blocks of color, try scribbling lots of colors in random patterns...

You'll get something fabulously cool like this!

Variation 2: Add some Perfect Pearls to your spray bottle before spritzing the block.. Now you'll have a SPARKLY image! (yeah, it didn't really photograph well… sorry, I promise that it shimmers in real life!)

Ok.. guess that's all for me today!

Don't forget---
Leave a comment on EACH blog in the hop (including the Unity blog) for your chance to win.  The winners will be announced Saturday night on the Unity blog.

Your next stop is Lisa!

Enjoy!
