finding wings with 3C
Hello my fabulous friends, and welcome to all those stopping by for the first time!
It's time for another incredible Colorado Craft Company new release and I'm joining in with some incredibly talented designers for a bloghop!
(And yes, there will be prizes!)
Note: Products were provided by the company, however my opinions remain my own. Affiliate links have been used. This doesn't affect the price you pay, but it does a lot to help me continue bringing you new content. Thank you so much for your support!
Let's take a look at some of the fun new sets!
This first one is my favorite... Hibiscus Hummingbird. It includes both a beautiful hibiscus, and this life sized hummingbird. There are also two coordinating dies... One for the hummingbird, and one for the flower.I LOVE hummingbirds. I was lucky enough to watch a hummingbird nest in my yard a few years ago.. The tiny jellybean sized eggs turned into tiny funny looking babies, which grew into two cute fluff balls, Then I got to watch them take their first flight. It was incredible!
When I first pulled this stamp set out of the package, I was super excited... Then I when I stamped it, I got a bit nervous.... I wanted to color it realistically, but I wasn't sure where to start. I haven't painted a lot of realistic birds... Then self doubt set in. Yes, I too struggle with that inner voice who tells me "You can't do that! You aren't good enough!'". I thought about chickening out and just coloring the flower instead.. I'm much more comfortable with flowers.... But I wanted to tackle the bird. So I sat down and played. I played with colors. I played with techniques. I experimented. I learned. And honestly, I loved it.
That's one of the things that I have always loved about Colorado Craft Company's Big and Bold stamps... They tend to challenge me. They often intimidate me a bit. And that challenge pushes me to grow as an artist. I don't always get it right the first time... Sometimes I have to paint or color it many times before I start getting the desired results. But it's worth it in the end!
Moving on to our next sets... The image comes from Life Lasts, and there is a coordinating die set that makes cutting out this detailed image quick and easy! The the sentiment comes from Peonies Frame.
Peonies Frame also has a large frame of peonies (like the name says) as well as a coordinating die set, but for today's projects I decided to do a little mixing and match of sets because they all work so well together!
I love how detailed the die is... It doesn't just cut around the whole image, it also cuts out some of the inner white spaces, like between the bird's legs and some of the flowers.
My last project for today is this beautiful bird cage from the set Be Free. Isn't it pretty?!?
Ok.. Now on to the hop info...

My favorite is (sounds strange to say it) the sympathy card. I often think it is strange to see handmade sympathy cards in bright colors. It just doesn't seem to fit. Even though this is a colorful card, it somehow this feels just right. Well done.
ReplyDeleteYour hummingbird is very realistic!! I have ruby-throated hummingbirds at my house and you really did capture their color! I especially like the last card with just the cage! Reminds me that we don't have to fill the whole card with things. Very elegant!
