For today's card I combined some new with some old... Santa is from the new Santa Bunny, and the little bunny with the cookie is from Snow Happy. I love that the Anita Jerem stamps can mix and match!

This was an experiment, and one that I LOVED. The red is velvet paper (think flocked but with zero mess). It's absolutely beautiful, but I wasn't sure how well it would take to foiling since velvet is not exactly smooth, and you always hear that you need smooth for foiling... however it worked like a dream! I used the Spellbinders Mini Christmas sentiments hot foiling plate. SO PRETTY!

Now, if you have Snow Happy, you may remember this little bunny with a snowball... Well, if you color it brown, and add some dark brown dots, you have a cookie to give Santa!

The other thing you may have noticed is that this little bunny is actually facing the opposite direction as it should... The stamp has the little bunny facing the right... but that didn't work for what I wanted so I did some mirror image stamping...

There are many ways of doing mirror image stamping, but the way I do it you just need a MISTI and a Gel Plate (the kind used for gel printing)

You'll want to start by taking the foam pad out of your MISTI, then place your Gel Plate in the MISTI. My Gel Plate is slightly higher than the edge of the MISTI, but since you won't be pushing down hard, you shouldn't have any problems.

Next, place your stamp on the Gel Plate where you want it, and close the lid of the MISTI to pick up the stamp (this is exactly how you normally position a stamp in the MISTI)

Ink up your stamp with the ink you want to use. I find the inks with a little open time work best. I'm using Inkon3 Blackout.  Once your stamp is inked close the lid and let the stamp touch the Gel Plate. The Gel Plate is squishy, so don't press down hard or you will distort your lines... just gently kiss the stamp to the Gel Plate. I like to reink the stamp and repeat. Stamping it twice seems to transfer a better amount of ink to the plate.

Place your paper (front side down) on the Gel Plate lining the bottom corner of your paper up with the Gel Plate. Rub the back of your paper with your hand to transfer the ink to the paper. You. don't have to press super hard... just give it a nice rub.

You can see here that the image on the right (my Gel Plate stamped image) is slightly lighter and less defined than the image on the left (stamped normally). Depending on how much lighter it is, that may not bother you. If it does, there's a simple fix...

You can go over the stamped lines with a black pen. I find the Anita Jeram stamps especially easy to do this to since the lines are already a bit broken, wonky, and hand drawn.
