lantern in a snow storm

Hello my fabulous friends!

I wanted to start this week off right by getting all inky! I found a white spray ink in my stash...

If we are being honest here, it's probably been sitting on my shelf forgotten for 2 years or so!!
HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN???

Anyway, I had to give it a test run, and what better way to test out a white spray ink than with the new It's Snowing stencil from La-La Land Crafts?

Have you noticed the knit texture popping up all over? For those of you who aren't great at coloring that texture in by hand, the Sweater Weather background stamp can make it super easy! I cut a reverse mask for her shawl, then I stamped the background stamp with Distress ink (so it wouldn't react with the Copics). After stamping, I just colored and shaded like normal.. It leaves this FABULOUS knit texture that is SUPER easy to achieve!

I used the largest tag (turned upside down) as my base for Marci... But that meant I had a large hole near her feet.. So I decided to decorate with some boughs of greenery and a bow. To create the boughs, I simply die cut the wreath, then cut it in half.. that left me two half circles that could be arranged at a wide angel to match the line of the tag. I then used the bow to cover both the hole, and the ends of the boughs.

For the background, I covered a panel with a couple shades of blue Distress ink. I then used a white spray ink through the It's Snowing stencil  to get the soft, almost ghosty snowflakes. So pretty!

I did get a little carried away with the spray, and some ink leaked under the stencil.. Luckily it was in an area that is covered by the tag...

The snowflakes are very delicate and it is easy to get carried away with sprays... I suggest building your up your color slowly instead of spraying a lot on all at once and ending up with a puddled mess under the stencil.

Well, I guess I better get busy.. there's still so much to do in the next week and a half!
Yikes!!!

See you soon!
