foiled flower...

Hello my fabulous friends!

Recently I was asked to make a wedding card for someone.. but other than the colors (purple, green, and gray), I really don't know much about the person or what they might like... So I did some experimenting with styles and techniques, then let the person requesting the card decide... This was one of the cards that wasn't chosen, but I love how it turned out anyway!

I recently ordered several flower stamp sets from Polkadoodles, and I'm SO excited about them! Instead of a bunch of already designed flowers, there are just a bunch of shapes that can be combined into countless flower and butterfly combinations... The possibilities are only limited by the imagination!

Because of that, this flower was a bit tricky.... To build the flower, I needed to mask, but I also wanted  wanted silver foiled lines, which meant heat embossing. So, I started with the center of the flower, stamped and heat embossed it, than masked it. I then stamped the first set of petals, removed the masks, heat embossed, then replaced the masks... and continued doing this until the whole image was stamped and heat embossed.

I then covered the image with some heat reactive foil and sent it through my heat laminator.

Check out the shine!

I colored the flower using Copics, but being very careful not to color over top of the foiled lines. It was a bit trickier to color, but it really wasn't bad.

To finish it off, I dug out some old dies, foil paper, and a sentiment that fit perfectly... I also added a few rhinestones for a little extra sparkle.

So what do you think? Do you like the foiled lines? Should I do more projects with foiled lines? Would you be interested in a tutorial? Let me know!

See you soon!
