skating bear...

Hello my fabulous friends!

I grew up in northern Utah, so I'm used to snow in the winter, but I've only been ice skating a few times in my life... and never outside.

Now, I live in a place that gets rain during the winter, with only a little snow... But I'm surrounded by all these gorgeous evergreen trees and little lakes... It's like the perfect movie setting for ice skating outside... if it actually froze...

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to live that fantasy through my cards...
LOL!

This ADORABLE little bear looks so serene!

I thought about keeping the card simple and leaving mostly white space (like I often do with cards), but I just couldn't get the idea of skating on a little pond in the middle of the forest out of my head... so I added in some super easy trees (using the same method I've used since a kid to draw pine trees... Layers of flicks...  It's not fancy, but it communicates the setting.

This whole scene makes me want to shut my eyes, close out the stresses of life, and imagine myself gliding over the ice, surrounded by trees and animals....

If you need me, I'll be daydreaming...

See you soon!
