white jasmine ft. Alex Syberia Designs
Hello my fabulous friends!
Whenever I sit down to paint something I'm not familiar with, I like to do a quick web search for some photos. I've learned a lot of interesting things by doing this! Of course you can color something any way you want, but I like looking at the photos for color inspiration. And, this White Jasmine from Alex Syberia Designs, is no different.
Apparently jasmine can be white or yellow... but I actually like painting white things, so I went with that.

When painting white things in watercolor, the challenge is to create shape and form without adding too much color, and losing the appearance of white. It can be a tricky balancing act, but I really enjoy it!
One thing I have learned, is don't stop too soon. The first several petals might look bad... you might be sure that you went too dark, and it won't look white at all... but if you keep going and get all the petals painted, and add in some leaves, it often looks better than you feared. Trust the process!
And a quick foiled sentiment to finish it off...

And a huge thank you to Alex for letting me guest design this month! It's been amazing working with these beautiful florals!
I'll be back with more soon... see you then!
