gnomes 2 ways...

Hello my fabulous friends!

It's that time again.. More Club La-La Land Crafts inspiration!!

May's kit is SO much fun! If you are a member, you may already have your stamps in your hands!

For my first two projects that I shared using this kit (see here), I made the two cards very similar.. Different designs and images, but the same color scheme and feel.. as if they came from a set. Today I wanted to do DIFFERENT cards to show how versatile this kit is!

For my first card today, I needed a masculine card for my brother-in-law's birthday...

I'll admit, masculine cards are kinda tough for me... especially if said guy doesn't like animals (my go-to for most of the men in my life).

I was STUMPED.

When I first saw the May Club La-La Land Crafts, I knew this was going to be his card!

I wanted the colors to be masculine, but not super bright.. So I went went with a nice dark blueberry blue and chose the rest of my colors to match the vibrancy of my chosen blue. It gives it a more mature guy look... if that makes sense.

I also needed to find a way to make it birthday themed... My solution was to doodle a cupcake... It's fairly simple doodle, but it takes this stamp from being a garden gnome to being a birthday gnome!

Sometimes all it takes is adding a little doodle, or changing the color scheme to make a regular stamp set work for a holiday! You just have to get creative!

I love the Hello Lovely background stamp! It's adds just the perfect touch of texture and color without being distracting!

I added some foam to pop the window up from the back to give it more dimension.

The dies from this kit make building scenes a breeze!

For my second card today, I went with a softer more feminine feel...

I love how the clothes have plenty of open space so you can really play with your own patterns! Adding stripes of polkadots is an EASY way to add interest, and personalize it!

I wanted to give these berries a different feel... So I decided to turn them into gumdrop berries... (I wish gumdrop grew on a bush!!)

I added some Glossy Accents to the berries, then covered in glitter... it looked sparkly and beautiful, but.... I HATE when glitter flakes off all over EVERYTHING!!! So after it was completely dry, I added another layer of Glossy Accents over the glitter to seal it in. It's still super sparkly, but now it's also shiny and the glitter is sure to stay put!

I wanted a frame, but the Nesting Frames Large die set had too big of gaps between dies for what I wanted (meaning the jump in size from one die to the next is bigger than I wanted.. Not that it is bad, just not the look I was going for.)

So, to create my own frame, I die cut my cardstock using the largest die from the set, then, while the die was still in place, I traced around the inside edge of the die. From there it was just a matter of coloring and adding shadow to make it look like the frame was separate from the inner white piece.

So there you go.. two totally different looks from the same kit!
