little extra love...

Hello my fabulous friends!

Happy Saturday! I hope you all had a wonderful week!

This week has been kinda hard for a dear friend of mine... and I've been doing my best to send a little extra love his way... I know I can't take away his pain, but I hope he knows he isn't alone.

Coloring white on white images without lines can be tricky... you have to get enough color in there to define shapes and dimension, but not too much color, or it stops reading as white... Once you find that balance, it's fun to do, and can look amazing!

I kept with really soft vintage colors for the entire image.  I finished it of with some splatters.
I'm usually scared of splatters.. they are, by nature, unpredictable.. and it's frustrating to ruin a painting in the last 30 seconds with some bad splatters... However, I decided to try it with these, and I ended up liking it much better with the splatters than without! It was the finishing touch these flowers needed.

I kept the sentiment very simple with this... I tried a bunch of different sentiments, but the little sentiment with the simple font was, by far, the best.

TIP: When I'm not sure where to place my sentiment, or which sentiment to use, I like to stamp the sentiment(s) on pieces of acetate, then I can lay them over top of the card to test out placement. This  works when trying to figure out image arrangement too! It's a great way to get an idea of how a certain layout will look before committing to it!

I die cut the painted panel using a stitched rectangle die. Under that I layered a piece of Neenah Desert Storm cardstock. To give that cardstock a bit of tone-on-tone pattern, I used my Copic Airbrush, an E30 marker, and a stencil. I wanted to keep the patterning subtle, so I worked in light layers of color. I trimmed that piece to be slightly smaller than the card base, so when layered together, there is a white border around the entire thing.

Now is a great time to go shopping... there are tons of great sales!
Inkon3 is having a site-wide 35%off sale (code: THANKS35), so if you want to pick up some Fadeout ink for no line coloring, now is a great time (while supplies last)! Simon Says Stamp is also having some sales.. they have them on a banner at the top of their website. I actually placed an order yesterday to pick up some of the stamps that have been requested for videos! Thank you to all who have given suggestions so far!!
And there's tons of other sales going on too...

This is a great time to support your favorite companies and designers!

See you soon!
