dancing mice (and neutral colors)...

Hello my fabulous friends!

When we think of our favorite colors, most people don't think of the neutral or earth tone colors... but when I'm painting, they are among my most used colors!

Aren't these mice cute?!?

When I saw these adorable mice, one of the first scenes that came to mind was of them dancing..
I put off doing it for a while because I was a bit worried about the color scheme....

I wanted the mice to be realistic colors, but I didn't really want to include anything else in the scene to bring in some color...  But I decided to give it a go, and try doing a piece with just neutral colored markers...

I chose a warm gray, a cool gray, and a dull brown for the mice, and a brownish pink "blush" color for the feet, tails, and ears.  t

While coloring this, I realized just how colorful neutrals can be, and I fell even more in love with my neutral markers!

I did use a slightly brighter pink to mount the colored panel on, which helps to make the muted pink in the mice look more.. pink, and give the card a pop of color.

And I finished it off with this fabulous sentiment popped up on foam tape for a bit of dimension.

While neutrals may not be the most flashy colors, I suggest you don't skip over them when choosing which markers or paints to buy!

See you soon!
