when stamps intimidate...

Hello my fabulous friends!

I'm going to be honest here... Sometimes I fall in love with, and buy stamps that scare me.

They intimidate me because they force me out of my comfort zone, or force me to try something new... or they require more advanced coloring skills than I feel I have... or because I can see exactly what I want it to look like, but don't know how to make that happen on paper...

All those things can make an image scary...

But that's also why I buy them.

Paper: Canson Watercolor paper
Stamps: Clorado Craft Company Sympathy and Friendship Rose, Get Well Hydrangea
Ink: Inkon3 Fadeout, Juicy Clear
Coloring: Tim Holtz Distress Re-inkers
Victorian Velvet, Aged Mahogany, Rusty Hinge, Hickory Smoke, Chipped Sapphire, Peeled Paint, Shabby Shutters, Forest Moss, Scattered Straw, Stormy Sky

I fell in LOVE with this HUGE rose the first time I saw it colored using no-line coloring... but it took me a while to actually buy it.

It's a much bigger flower than I'm used to coloring.. and there's a lot more open space to fill... and... and... and...

(I kinda let myself freak myself out so I wouldn't spend the money on it.. LOL)

I finally decided I had to tackle it.. how else would I know if I could succeed?

I made several attempts using various coloring mediums... and I would toss them after doing several petals because I could tell it just wasn't working... And that's ok. When you are stretching, you don't always find success at the first, second, or even tenth attempt...

Just don't give up! Keep trying. Allow yourself to experiment, and allow yourself to fail. If you learn from your failure, it isn't really failure at all.

I finally got out my Distress re-inkers, and took what I had learned from my previous attempts.. and magic happened!

If we never step out of our comfort zone, we don't grow. If we never push ourselves to tackle hard things, we'll never know how far we can go...

I just ordered some more stamps that scare me.. and I'm excited!

See you soon!

  1. It’s beautiful! Thanks for sharing your fears. I have purchased several intimidating stamps...still in the original packaging. I need to just do it.
