a deer and squirrel Christmas...

Hello my fabulous friends!

I love watching the wildlife that comes into my yard... deer, squirrels, bobcats, rabbits.... They are all fun to watch!  Sometimes (especially when it's cold), I like to imagine them in a story book context... bundled up warm, with cozy houses... maybe even celebrating holidays together as friends...
I guess there is a part of me that never out grew fairytales!

I love these sweet critters from Hello Bluebird!!! To create this little scene, I had to do a bit of simple masking... I stamped the squirrel, then masked his lower half, and stamped the gifts... I thought it would be cute for him to be sitting a bit more at nose level with the deer.

I found the paper in my stash of old paper stacks... I honestly haven't bought paper in quite a while, but like many of you, I have a massive paper collection. It feels good to be using the paper instead of just storing it!

The ovals were done with the LDRS Woodland Foliage Frames die set, and the stitching on the holly layer is the Double Stitched Rectangle set from Kat Scrappiness.

I stamped the sentiment using Inkon3 Paint it Black from their new Atelier line... this black is more of a brownish-charcoal-gray color instead of dark black that the Blackout ink is. Normally, I prefer dark black ink, but sometimes it's nice to have a softer black... I especially like the softer black for my sentiments when I have used Fadeout ink to do some no line coloring... it is less harsh, and seems to fit with the coloring instead of overpowering it.

I hope everyone (including the critters) stay warm and safe this winter!

See you soon!
