gone fishin'...

Hello my fabulous friends!

I have some exciting news... I was asked to guest design with La-La Land Crafts this month! So each Monday I'll be bring you some LLLC inspiration!

Today's theme is Black and White with a pop of color...

Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Solar White; DCWV Scripts and Music Notes
Stamps: LLLC Gone Fishing Luka
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Distress Ink Soot Black
Coloring: Copics
Grays- W00-W10, 110
Fish-BG99, YG95, YG01, YG13, B99 YR12, E50, FBG2
Other: Ranger Glossy Accents; My Favorite Things Spin and Slide Disc; embroidery floss

I wanted to go with a black and white photo look, so this Photo Elements die was PERFECT!

Coloring in monotone is a great way to practice coloring with value and contrast since you have to make all the objects like different with only the value of the color instead of using lots of color.

I wanted the fish to be popping out of the photo, so I didn't ink the fishing line when I stamped the image. Instead, I cut a small slit on the bottom side of the fishing pole and threaded some embroidery floss through the hole and attached it to the fish.

To add even more interest, I used the smallest circle from Stitched Nested Circles to cut a hole where I wanted the fish to be.
I then die cut some cardstock using the second smallest circle, and put it behind the smaller hole. I glued the fish to a slider disc, and glued that to the larger circle through the window of the smaller circle. Then I adhered the card front to the card base with foam, leaving enough room around the circle for the under circle to move freely.

The result is a fish that can wiggle and move!

For the camera, I die cut it twice and stacked the dies. The bottom one I left all the little bits and pieces in the camera, the top one, I took them out. This gives some extra dimension to the die cut. I also filled the lens in with some Glossy Accents to give it that glass shine.

I don't know about you, but this put me in the mood for an afternoon of fishing..

See you soon!
