I wanted to create a snow globe scene for this cute little hippo...
I thought about doing an ACTUAL water shaker card... but those things scare me.. I always worry that a water card would spring a leak and make a mess... So I stuck with the tradition shaker...
I wanted a tree for him to be hanging his ornament on.. The Filigree Christmas Tree die is beautiful, and works perfectly for this... as an added benefit... it looks GREAT in the shaker because the little beads get caught in the swirls... so it looks like a snow covered tree!
To create my snow globe, I die cut the biggest circle from the Stitched Nested Circles set out of the front panel of my card. Then, die cut the bottom of the Build-a-House house die to create the base.
I then covered the circle opening with acetate, added a foam wall around the edge, and filled it with glitter and tiny glass beads..
I wanted to add a sentiment, but didn't want it to pull focus.. The Reveal Door die is the perfect solution! It fits perfectly in the base of the snow globe!
I went with a non-traditional color scheme for this card, and I really wanted to bring those colors together for my background... This new So Many Dots stencil made creating my own custom paper super simple!
Because this is a layering stencil set, there are many different patters you can create... I kept things nice and simple, adding the perfect amount of pop to the card without getting too busy. I love the simplicity and versatility of this stencil set!
Have you gotten a start on your holiday cards, or are you more of a last minute holiday crafter?
I end up being some of both... I have good intentions to get everything done early.. and I start out strong... but then life happens, and I find that I still end up having to do last minute cards in December... LOL! But I keep trying to get it done early!
See you soon!
