I wanted to share a fun way to use the Sunburst Rectangle die... by turning it into a double shaker! It's super easy!
Start by stamping your background image... I wanted my dolphin jumping in the center of the sunburst. To figure out exactly where you need to stamp, die cut the Sunburst Rectangle out of some scrap paper. This gives you a template to work with that you don't need to worry about if you get ink on.
If you want your dolphin colored, go ahead and do that now so your back panel will be ready to go when we need it.
Next, die cut your front panel. I love that this die easily cuts glitter paper!
Cover the back of your front panel with adhesive, then a sheet of acetate. Make sure it is glued on well and covers the entire back of the panel.
Now to create the double wells... This die makes it super easy... Just add some 1/8 inch foam tape around the outside edge to form the first well, then around the center circle to form the second. The most important thing to remember while doing this is that you don't want any gaps in your walls!
Having the two separate areas will allow you to fill each one with different shaker bits, and they won't get all mixed in together.
I decide to fill my card with blue and gold glass micro-beads. These make a great shaker filler, especially when you have small windows like we have here.
The outer well can handle a bunch of beads... The inner well you need to be a bit more cautious... If you put too much in there, you won't be able to see your dolphin.
Remove the liner from the foam tape to expose the adhesive. Carefully line up your back panel and press it down. Make sure the foam tape seals well all the way around before you flip it over.
Now you are ready to decorate!
I wanted to keep things nice and simple, so I decide to just make a 'wooden' sign with my sentiment.
I love the sign on the lemonade stand in the Lemonade stamp set!
For today's project, I didn't need the whole stand, just the sign.. So I stamped the sign part on a scrap of cardstock.
I then colored it... I chose to use Copics, but you could use any medium you want... and if you don't want it to look like raw wood, you can color it any color you want!
Next, prep your surface with an embossing buddy (or something similar) to ensure there is no static or wet areas for the embossing powder to stick to.
Stamp your sentiment with Watermark ink. This is a clear sticky ink that is perfect for heat embossing.
Cover the wet ink with embossing powder (I used black). Shake off any excess, and heat.
Once done, simply trim out and attach to your card.
I adhered mine with foam tape for a little extra dimension.
So there you have it! A super simple two-toned shaker card!
