colorful nest- LDRS Creative new release...

Hello my fabulous friends!

Today is the start of the March New Release hop over at LDRS Creative! I'm not officially part of the hop this month, but I still have projects to share!

You may not know this, but I create a bunch of cards for each new release, and send them in early so when the new products are released at the LDRS Creative store, there are project ideas for you to look at on the website.  The sad part is that many of my projects never actually get shared on my blog (because I'm afraid of boring you with TONS of projects all using the same products)... but I try to feature my favorites here so you can get the card details!

I really wanted to create an Easter type card with pastel colored eggs... However, if we are being honest, I really struggle coloring pastel with Copies. I always have. I love contrast and deep shadows because they add so much dimension... but I also love seeing other people color in pastels.. it almost looks like watercolor...

So I challenged myself to go pastel. The darkest color I used on this card is YR24 for the shadow on the feet and beaks.

I didn't want to go with a true no-line coloring look, but with the pastel colors, the black was just too harsh... so I went with the second generation of Coffee Bean (I inked up the stamp with Coffee Bean then stamped it off on a scrap paper before stamping on my project... this creates a 'second generation' stamping.)

To keep me for going too dark, I stuck with two color blends for everything.  To keep my coloring from looking flat, I chose a "dark" pastel color, then a super light color for each of my blends. I then used the tip to tip technique to get the shades in between.

Tip to tip technique involves touching the tip of the darker marker to the tip of the lighter marker for a couple of seconds, then coloring with it.. it starts out as the darker color, and as you color, more of the lighter color mixes in until you are back to just the lighter color.

I absolutely LOVE this new You Are So Tweet stamp set! The birds and nest are so adorably sweet, and the little sprigs of leaves and berries allow you to really make the nest your own!

This new paper is also GORGEOUS!

I stamped my sentiment in the second generation of Coffee Bean as well.. It's dark enough to be easily read, but isn't as harsh as black or full strength Coffee Bean would be.

And you see that fun edge on the patterned paper?  That is from the Sweet Village die set. I LOVE this swooping edge with the stitched details... I think I'm gonna be using this die a lot!

Be sure to check out the full new release HERE, and hop along HERE for your chance to win!

See you soon!
