home is where the heart is...
Hello my fabulous friends!
Do you love creative with patterned paper?
I'll be honest, I find it a bit intimidating! I don't know why. My mom is a quilter, and she can mix and match patterns in her sleep, and it comes out fabulous...
I over think it... I worry about balancing, and matching, and if the the purple is the same in all the pieces, and if it's too busy...
For today's card I challenged myself to really use patterned paper...
I started with the new LDRS Creative Daisy Delights paper pack to eliminate some of the stress..
Paper: Georgia Pacific black cardstock; LDRS Creative Daisy Delights
Stamps: LDRS Creative You're so Tweet
Ink: LDRS Creative Raven; Copic multiliner
Dies: LDRS Creative Sweet Village
I've found it helps me to use a mix of busy paper, and solids... this gives my eye calm places to rest amidst the energetic patterns.
The background paper for this card, is actually a patterned paper, but it's very subtle and reads more like a solid color. The black silhouetted houses give a strong calming contrast the the bright floral paper.
For my sentiment, I decided to create my own using another patterned paper...
That's 4 patterned papers in total (that's impressive for me!)
To create the sentiment, I trimmed a piece of the patterned cardstock to fit into my label maker (1/4"), then gently rubbed the Raven ink over the raised letters. I also stamped the little heart from You're so Tweet to finish it off.
Do you love working with patterned papers, solid papers, or clean white?
