little fairy poppy...
Hello my fabulous friends!
Today is a stressful day for me... My mom was supposed to have surgery.. The kind that if all goes as planned, will save her life, but if anything goes wrong, there are no more options....
But due to the current situation with Covid-19, her surgery was postponed until further notice.
While I understand the reasons why, and I appreciate that the hospitals are trying to do the best they can for everyone involved, it's really hard watching my mom in so much pain.

Yeah...
Since there really isn't anything I can do at this point but wait and pray, I'm distracting myself by coloring pretty things...

This adorable duo was so fun to color! I had a lot of fun with textures and also creating various white shades.
I kinda have mixed feelings about the ladybug though... When I was growing up in Utah, I loved ladybugs.. They were one of the few bugs that I didn't mind holding. You didn't see them very often, but you could buy mesh bags full of them at the garden shop to release into your yard if you wanted...
When my parents moved to a new state, their new house was infested with ladybugs... I mean, we could kill a couple hundred in one evening in just the main room and kitchen... It was crazy!!! At first, we would carefully catch them in cups and release them outside, until we realized that there were so many, and they were just coming back inside....
And the worst part is the STINK! When scared, they release a HORRIBLE smelling fluid that both stains whatever it touches, and smells really bad... and the smell doesn't go away... you can wash your hands over and over, and still smell it. YUCK! So anyway, I learned to not like ladybugs pretty quick....
But this little guy is so cute, how can I not like him???
I wanted to keep the wings nice and delicate, so I chose some soft greens, and left a lot of white space. I also covered the wings with some Liquid Pixie Dust to give them some sparkle.
To finish the card, I die cut the frame from white cardstock, then used my Copic Airbrush to add color to the frame so it would match perfectly with my flowers. I also added some Liquid Pixie dust to help tie in to the wings. I attached that over the colored image using foam tape to create a shadow box effect. That was glued on to some patterned paper, and finally on to the white card base.
Well, I'm off to color some more... Don't forget to follow me on Instagram to see my daily coloring, and join in the fun with The Daily Marker 30 day coloring challenge! If you need any new images to color, be sure to check out Whimsy's collection of digital images... there's lots of amazing ones!
