you can do this...

Hello my fabulous friends!

I hope today finds you all safe, healthy, and happy.... but to those who aren't, here's a big virtual hug from me!

I have been officially under stay-home orders for a week now... I am safe, and have the essentials for the time being.  My mom has started chemo again since the hospital won't do the surgery she needs... I'm not entirely sure how starting her on chemo and making her go in to the clinic every week is any safer than the surgery... but I'm not the expert, just the very worried daughter...

I have family and friends who are on the front lines in medical professions... they are amazing, and I hope and pray that they are kept safe and can continue helping others.

I want to bring some cheer and inspiration to all of you. I'm trying my best to keep up with my work, art, blog, and even trying to work on a video or two. However, I am struggling... I was struggling with anxiety and depression (among other things) before all this started, and to be honest, things have kind of taken a nose dive. Please be patient with me. I know I need happy things right now, and I think others out there do too... So I'll keep trying to bring some happiness to the table..

Here's a little happy for today... check out this elephant!!!

Isn't she so sweet?!?!

This adorable stamp set includes several animals, and a bunch of different floral stamps to create custom wreaths, frames, borders, etc..

I used some simple masking and Fadeout ink to create my focal point... I then watercolored it using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I've really been loving the super soft watercolors.. If you are interested in learning more about how I watercolor with these markers be sure to check out my Watercolor Tutorial play list.

For my background paper, I loved this soft pink patterned paper from Polkadoodles, but it was too bright of a pink to match what I had colored. A simple way to shift the overall color of your paper is to use the Copic Airbrush... I chose a light peach color to push the pink over to a more peachy shade... It worked perfectly! You can see the slight (yet needed) shift in color from the original paper (the smaller scrap on the left). As you can see, because this was a light color shift, the pattern remains unaffected!
Be sure to test on a scrap paper first to be sure you will like the end result!

I aslo used my airbrush to color the die cut behind the elephant... I didn't have a green that matched my leaves perfectly, so I die cut some white paper, and found the perfect green Copic marker to airbrush it with.

I glued the green die cut flat to the patterned panel, then adhered the stamped image using some foam tape. I love the added texture behind the stamped image!

I finished the card off with this sentiment:
 "you can do this"

I felt that was fitting... I need that reminder, and maybe others out there do too. It's easy to get overwhelmed by all the bad, scary, and stressful news and events.. but we can get through this. If you can stay home, please do. If you need to go to work to provide the services people need, thank you for all you do! Please be safe!

And if you are struggling.. with anxiety, depression, illness, loneliness, loss of your job, or anything else, please know that you are loved. Hang in there. Reach out. We can't do this alone... but we can do this together!

See you soon!
