mask me...

Hello my fabulously wonderful friends!!

I know this is my 2nd post today, but I HAD to get my Unity FWF post in! :)

Now is the time of year when I really start buckling down and working on simple card sets. It has become a tradition. My sister is very good at USING cards, but isn't crafty, so each year she puts in a request for enough handmade cards to last her the year as her Christmas present from me.

I always start by going through my finished card drawer. Projects I've made but haven't used yet. Anything that fits her taste and needs gets thrown in her Christmas box. I then start focusing on making cards and card sets to fill where needed.

As a teacher in an elementary school, she uses a lot of "thank you" cards for her parent volunteers, so I make plenty of those.

These ones went really fast!

The cute circles are from Unity's "Blossom Stackers". The fabulous thing about this set is that it has a matching die set from Spellbinders called "Blossom Tags and Accents". That makes this masking technique just that much simpler because you don't have to hand cut anything!

To make my masks, I simply die cut a bunch of sticky notes, making sure that part of the cut is over the sticky part. Built in temporary adhesive!

Stamp your first circle... remember that the first one you stamp will be in the foreground. The ones you stamp next to it will appear to be BEHIND it.

Cover your first circle with one of your masks making sure to line it up as perfectly as you can, then stamp your next one.

Continue building by stamping and masking. You can keep reusing your masks as long as they keep sticking. :)

If you want another circle to be completely in the foreground, you will need to skip ahead and stamp it and mask it before stamping the ones beside it.

I love how simple it is to make a fun border this way! If you don't have the die, or you want to use a different stamp to do this, you can always stamp the image on a sticky note, and hand cut it... the dies just make it a whole lot easier!

Enjoy!
