no-line flowers on kraft...

Hello my fabulous friends!

For those of you who don't know, I'm participating in #thedailymarker30day coloring challenge this month (if you want to join in, you'll find all the details HERE)

Normally when I do these challenges, I try to color a card front each day, and I also challenge myself to try new products, techniques, and/or color blends in my coloring projects. This really helps me improve my skills and learn new things while being part of an amazingly supportive and fun community of people who all share in the love of coloring!

This time it's a bit different... I injured my right hand.. and since I'm right handed, that makes coloring a bit more challenging. So it's taking me longer to get things done.
But that's ok. There's no rush! It's about practicing and having fun.

(though I'm starting to wonder if my "new technique" for this month should be left handed coloring.. LOL!

Anyway, this is what I've been working on the past few days...

Paper: Neenah Desert Storm
Stamps: Altenew Christmas Rose
Ink: Ink on 3 Fadeout ink
Coloring: Copic & Prismacolor Pencils
Flowers- R81, R83, R85, R89
Centers- Y18, YR23, YR27, E99, E37, E49
Leaves- YG93, YG95, YG97, YG99
Black (PC935), White (PC938)
Dies: Brother ScanNCut font
Other: Kat Scrappiness Champagne Jewels; Liquitex Gold acrylic paint

If' you have been reading my blog lately, you'll notice I've kinda been hooked on this Ink on 3 Fadeout ink ever since I got back from Creativation...
I've been putting it through it's paces to see how I like it... And so far I've been LOVING it. But I hadn't tried it on kraft paper (well, Neenah Desert Storm.. It's similar in color to kraft, but better for Copic markers.)

Normally on this paper I have to do a second generation stamping and hope that the ink comes out the right color...  Fade Out has become my new favorite ink for no-line coloring on DS... It's dark enough you can see the lines, but it melts away as you color.
PERFECT!

I did notice that by the second day of working on this, the lines had faded even more, and they were almost too faint to see in places. With flowers, it wasn't a big deal since I could make up my own lines if I couldn't see clearly where the line actually was. However, if I were working on a person, or something more detailed, and I knew it would take me more than one coloring session, I would probably double stamp it. That will give you a darker line, and by the time it fades the next day you would probably be able to see the lines better.

After I got my marker work done, I added some super simple highlights and shadows with white and black colored pencils... Nothing fancy, just boosting the contrast a bit.

I really like the no-line look... It makes the image softer and a bit more lifelike...

To finish it off, I cut a sentiment out of more Desert Sand cardstock using my new ScanNCut. I then covered the letters with a layer of metallic gold acrylic paint. I popped them up with some foam tape, and added some jewels for extra sparkle!

If you aren't already joining in with the coloring challenge, you really should! I was asked during my workshop what advice I would give someone who doesn't feel like they really know how to color well.. One of the first things I said was PRACTICE! Even if it's just a few minutes a day!

See you soon!
