trying Ink on 3 Fade Out Ink...

Hello my fabulous friends!

Happy February!
Today starts the next round of The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge hosted by Kathy from The Daily Marker.  (#thedailymarker30day) While I generally color every day anyway, I enjoy participating in this challenge as a way to push myself to grow, and as a way of connecting with other amazing people who are in various stages of their own coloring journeys! I don't know how much I'll be able to do this month because of my injury, and work has to come first (which is usually stuff I can't share until later),  but on the days I can play along, I'll be sharing on Instagram, so be sure to follow me! @klynneart

While at Creativeation, I met Fleurette Bloom, the creator of Fade Out ink. I had been talking to someone else about a no-line coloring project I had done, and she asked if I had tried Fade Out ink. When I said hadn't, she sent Fleurette over to talk to me...

Fleurette gave me a demonstration of her ink, and talked with me for quite a while. She was super sweet and fun to talk to! She also gave me the pad she had been demoing with so I could take it home and try it out.

While it's been hard for me to do much coloring since I've been home (apparently I actually did more damage than originally thought to my hand when I fell), I couldn't wait any longer to start testing it out!

(Yes, the ink pad was given to me, but I was under no obligation to use it, or review it, nor am I being compensated for the review... I simply wanted to try it and share my thoughts)

From what I understand, this ink is good for no-line coloring with both watercolors and Copics.... It's been a while since I've pulled out my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers, so I decided to start there.

Apparently, this ink does 2 main things...
1) stamps super light... however, if you have your stamp set up in a MISTI you can keep stamping over it to build up the color.
2) it takes on the color of whatever you put over it... which makes the lines seem to fade into your coloring...

I actually really liked how this turned out! Especially since it was my first real go at using this particular ink!
Where I really noticed a difference from my normal no-line coloring was in the leaves... you still get that faint detailing of the stamp, but it blends into the coloring instead of either disappearing completely, or being harsh dark lines..

I often get asked about how I color with Zigs, so I thought I'd film it and do a speed paint... Sorry for the slight awkwardness due to the brace...

I kept the rest of the card nice and simple. The sentiment is from the exclusive set from LDRS Creative that was part of their show special for those who placed orders at Creativation. And a scattering of tiny rhinestones for a bit of sparkle...

In conclusion, I like this ink! I'm going to be testing it out with Copics too, but at least for watercolors, it is a great ink for getting a no-line coloring image that doesn't lose all the details of the stamp!

That being said...

If you want your stamped lines to completely disappear (which is something I want when I am being too lazy to mask, or when I want to alter the outline of the stamp), than this ink would not be the best ink choice.  You can see in the leaves that the vein lines are still very much there.

so...

Will I use it again? Yes! It was almost as stress free as watercoloring with embossed lines because I didn't have to worry about if I put all the details back in since they never actually went away.

Will I use it exclusively for my no-line coloring from now on? No.  But then, I don't have many things that I use exclusively... Different products give different end results, so I chose the product that will work best for the desired end result for each project. That's how I work.. That's why I have so many different kinds of inks, and glues, and scissors, and... and... and....
Options are good!

Have you tried Ink on 3 Fade Out ink? What did you think of it?

See you soon!
