candy canes and gingerbread...

Hello my fabulous friends!

Who's ready for some gingerbread cookies and peppermint candy?

I don't have any real gingerbread (wish I did!), but the next best thing is a gingerbread card!

Today's inspiration theme for La-La Land Crafts is:
Candy canes and gingerbread

Paper: Neenah Classic Crest Solar White; Kraft cardstock
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black; Versafine Onyx Black; Uniball Signo White; Copic Multiliner; Distress Ink Brushed Corduroy, Frayed Burlap
Coloring: Copics
Cookie Speckles- E87
Hippo- T0, T2, T4, T6, W0, E04, R00
Red- R24, R29, R59
White- W0, W3
Green- YG25, YG17, YG67, G28
Black- 100
Other: Microbeads

I started out with some kraft cardstock... then I added a couple shades of brown Distress Ink around the edges to mimic the golden brown edges that cookies have.

I also wanted to add the little speckles of spices that you sometimes see in gingerbread... To do this, I put a Copic marker into my Distress Spritzer with the brush side down... When you squeeze the bulb, you get various size speckles!

To decorate my cookie, I die cut one of the Nested Frames from the center. I then attached the outer edge to a card front using foam tape. I glued the inside piece flat to the card front so it is recessed.

The large candy canes are dies that I colored... I then went around the edges with a black marker to make them look more like stamped images.

The hippo was colored on white cardstock and fussy cut, then tucked under the raised frame.

Finally, I used the Sea Bubbles Border to create a frosting border. I colored in the centers of the circles with marker, then added a large drop of Glossy Accents over the top. I sprinkled tiny glass microbeads over the wet glue... they look like little gum drops!

I don't know about you, but now I want cookies!!!

Maybe some baking is in my future.. LOL!

See you soon!
