Layering stamps are a EASY way to create images with lots of detail and dimension without the fuss!
Lining up the layers is easy, and you don't have to have things lined up perfectly, and it still looks great!
It's hard to photograph, but the sentiment was stamped in Watermark ink and covered in Perfect Pearls. It catches the light and sparkles, but you can still read it IRL when the light isn't catching it... It's just really hard to photograph!
These layering stamp flowers are REALLY easy and fun! Let's take a look at using them...
Start by creating masks for the flowers... They don't have to look pretty, they just have to be made.
Stamp the base layer (the stamp with the most surface area) in your lightest color of ink.
Stamp the second layer in your second darkest ink.
Quick tip: When aligning your layering stamps on your project in a stamp positioning tool, place a piece of acetate down on your project.. This will protect your project form ink, water, etc while allowing your to figure out where exactly the stamp needs to go.
Stamp the third layer (the stamp with the least amount of surface area) with the darkest ink
Quick Tip: You don't always have to have multiple shades of ink. If you have a stamp positioning tool, you can build up layers of color by stamping over the same place (either with the same color ink, or different colors of ink) to achieve the end result. Here you can see the difference between one layer of ink and two layers of ink.
Cover the flowers with the masks. Stamp the stem and leaves.
I wanted the panel to have a fun edge, but still fit on a standard size card... So I used the Build a Card die set to create a partial panel.
The butterflies were stamped in Watermark ink and dusted with Perfect Pearls. They are hard to photograph, but IRL, they add a subtle and beautiful shimmer element!

For today's second card, I created my own pattern paper using just one stamp!
I just stamped the flower over and over randomly across the page, then colored them.
I kept the coloring super simple since there were so many to color..
This is a fun and easy way to use any small stamps to create your own custom paper!
